November 2013

What a ride we had at the Women Build!! 11 days with up to 80 Women a day. All of the Crew Leaders were outstanding and their effort and contribution led to the completion of a very successful event! The women raised over a Million dollars!!

We have also come to the end of a great project at 697 Danforth Road. There are now four homes (2 Semi-detached) where there used to be a derelict house that was falling down and an empty lot no one could figure out what to do with!! Another miracle if you asked me!!

The building is going along well at Acme 2 but if I was honest, we need stronger Crew Leader presence to ensure this is also a success story. We recognize that it is not a very convenient location, but look what progress we have made in 6 weeks! Let’s keep the momentum going!

There are some interesting opportunities coming up I wanted you to aware of:

November 15th Acme 2 site – we have a donor that is willing to contribute 5 times normal costs to build. What’s the catch? They want their whole team of 50 to participate! Well, we survived 11 days of Women Build with 70 or 80 on site, so I am sure we can survive a 50 person build day. But we cannot do it without the help of committed crew leaders like you! Please visit the Registration page to sign up for this important day.  http://torontohabitat.volunteerhub.com/Events/Index

See you there!!

"I found Habitat Toronto is a very friendly organization for low income families. No interest, no down payment, training for home ownership, the best thing is you can own a house even if you are on a low income.

We thank God and thank the staff of Habitat for Humanity Toronto who give us this opportunity. It's our dream; it's the goal of our life."
